Announcement regarding Pride 2008:
We've got some Good News! As the community
is aware, the Aloha Pride Center (APC) is undergoing
both a financial and mission rebirth. As we focus on
rebuilding the Aloha Pride Center as the hub and anchor for
the queer community of Hawaii and its loved ones, a group
of volunteers has stepped forward and will be
establishing a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization entitled the Pride Festival
Foundation. The board has agreed to outsource the
festival to them this year, and has the option to resume
its role in sponsoring the annual Pride events in the
future. Therefore, the APC will be in no way funding this
year's Pride event.
The mission of this new nonprofit organization is to 1)
raise the needed funds to hold the annual Pride
event for 2008, 2) project manage and coordinate all
necessary tasks to insure the event is held as
usual, and 3) use any profits to fund an annual Pride
event in 2009.
The APC will function as a co-sponsoring organization
by sharing website and contact resources.
We are excited to see so many people stepping up and
volunteering as we move forward and grow as both a
nonprofit and a community.
Mahalo!

Computer and Office Equipment Needs (Always Tax
Deductible and We'll Provide a Receipt)
The community center's computers and office equipment are
on their "last legs." Consequently, we are in dire need of
replacing them with new or used, but in good working order.
We are also planning to convert to an all Apple Macintosh
computer system in order to alleviate the complexity of
managing the network. If you would like to make a
significant donation to help with purchasing a new Apple
Macintosh computer(s) or if you have a slightly older
Macintosh, desktop or laptop, and would like to donate that
to the community center, we would be very grateful for your
generosity. Please contact Dave Moore at davemoore@alohapridecenter.org for
more specific information. -Many Mahalos if you can
